In the middle of head coach Lute Olson’s incredible run of leading Arizona to twenty-three consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, Mike Bibby arrived on campus. The star freshman point guard would team up with Miles Simon, Jason Terry, and Michael Dickerson to take down two No. 1 seeds in Kansas and North Carolina before facing defending champion Kentucky in the national championship. Famous for the Nikes on their feet, the Wildcats backed it up on the court with an overtime win in Indianapolis for their first national title.
